What Is We Were Here Forever?
We Were Here Forever is the 2022 fourth entry and the first to leave the PC-only era: it brought the series to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with full cross-platform play. Both players are trapped inside Castle Rock itself, in a larger, more open structure than the corridor-style earlier games.

How It Plays
Forever keeps the asymmetric walkie-talkie core but lets each player roam a personal slice of the castle between puzzle rooms, so orientation and location descriptions become part of the challenge. Its puzzles lean on the series' symbols-and-machines language, and it is the longest game in the series until Tomorrow's announced roughly 15-hour length.
Should You Play It Before We Were Here Tomorrow?
It is the most useful warm-up for Tomorrow: same generation of hardware, crossplay infrastructure, and the puzzle vocabulary Tomorrow inherits. Not required, though — the story recaps what you need as you play. If you buy only two games in the series, Forever and Tomorrow are the pair that play best back to back.
