The Series at a Glance

Total Mayhem Games has been building the We Were Here series since 2017: two players, two separate screens, one walkie-talkie. Every entry is an asymmetric co-op puzzle game where the information needed to escape is always split between you — your partner sees the half you cannot. We Were Here Tomorrow (2026-10-20) is the sixth and largest entry, announced at roughly 15 hours.

Play Order: What Actually Matters

There is no required play order. Each game is a standalone story with a fresh pair of roles, and Tomorrow's puzzles assume no prior knowledge. The order that matters is the one that fits your evening: the free 2017 original or the $0.99 FriendShip as a taster, Forever as the modern crossplay warm-up, and Tomorrow for the full-length experience. Longtime players simply play them by release year and treat Together's ending as the thread the newer games pick up.

Which Game for Which Pair?

New to co-op puzzle games and unsure about voice communication? Start with the free original or The FriendShip — lowest cost, shortest sessions, and both teach the same core skill: describing what you see before acting on it. Confident talkers who want the deepest puzzle boxes should go Forever (modern, crossplay, longest pre-Tomorrow campaign). Fans of story continuity should play by release year, because Together → Forever is the arc that Tomorrow continues.

Whichever you pick, both players need the game and a working microphone — there is no split-screen or couch co-op anywhere in the series, and no free "friend pass" edition exists.
